    Biographical / Historical

Sergeant Edwin George Frick, American Expeditionary Force (1/24/1896 - 4/2/1919) was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Justus and Carrie Frick, both born in Missouri to German parents. He worked as a salesman before he joined the military on June 5, 1917 and went to France in June 1918 with the Headquarters Detachment, 142nd Infantry, 36th Division during the First World War, until his death from pneumonia lober (in his right lung) in Tonnerre, Yonne Department, Bourgogne, France after the war. During that time he served directly with Major General William Smith, 36th Division Commander, of whom he writes fondly and also served with the 132nd Artillery. He is interred at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
Edwin's brother, Justus J. Frick, Jr., AEF (1897 - 1958) served as a Wagoner with the 230th MP Corps from 1917 until discharge at Camp Bowie, Texas on July 2, 1919 (his discharge papers spell his name "Justice," as he changed the spelling; confirmed by 1930 census).
Additional information on Sgt. Edwin Frick's unit can be found at The Yonne Doughboys project in France, https://yonne-doughboys.jimdo.com/, as well as the Texas Military Forces Museum, http://www.texasmilitaryforcesmuseum.org/36division/archives/142/142lin.htm
