Historical Note
The Seaver Faculty Association (SFA) was voted into existence in 1995, as a new incarnation of its predecessor, the Faculty
Organization of Seaver College (FOSC). The purpose of SFA is to provide a forum where faculty members can discuss academic
and professional matters, communicate as a single body with the Pepperdine administration, become more involved in the governance
of Seaver College, and promote collaboration within Seaver College Faculty. In 2020, the Seaver Faculty Association was renamed
Seaver Faculty Senate.
The SFA Executive Committee consists of the president, the president-elect, the immediate past president, the secretary-treasurer
and one representative from each of the eight academic divisions elected at large, and one representative from the Seaver
librarians. One function of the SFA Executive Committee is to serve as a liaison for the various standing committees of the
SFA, as well as appointing said committees.
The University Faculty Council (UFC) is a similar organization founded in 2001, containing members from all of Pepperdine's
five schools and serves to provide a broader voice in order to achieve university-wide faculty goals.
