Abstract: The Cities of Destiny Oral History
Project interviewed immigrants and minorities in Los Angeles. These histories document life
and childhood in the interviewees' native countries, how they came to the United States, and
their impressions of America.

Scope and Contents
The Cities of Destiny Oral History Project interviewed immigrants and minorities in Los
Angeles. These histories document interviewees life experiences, including their early years
in their native country, their journey to the United States, and their impressions of their
new home country. Interviewers for the project were students taking Liberal Arts 196 at Cal
State Northridge during the Spring semester of 1982.
The collection is divided into two series,
Audio Recordings
(1982) and
Transcripts (1982). Series I,
Audio Recordings, is further divided into two subseries:
Digital Audio (1982) and
Audio Cassettes (1982). The
interviews were originally recorded onto audiocassettes, and one interview has been
transcribed. Each series is arranged alphabetically by the last name of the narrator.
