Scope and Contents

The Marc Treib collection of graphic design ephemera contains 126 items dating from 1960 to 1996 (bulk 1980-1996).
This collection of ephemera consists of printed works on paper and cardstock. Though some items are hand printed using woodblocks or screens, most items were created using industrial offset lithographic or digital processes. Posters, pamphlets, catalogs, brochures, business cards, calendars, and advertisements created primarily by California designers including April Greiman, Michael Manwaring, Charles and Ray Eames, Michael Vanderbyl, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon, and others populate this collection. The collection includes materials designed for notable clients, such as admissions bulletins of the California Institute of the Arts by April Greiman and a large number of museum calendars for the San Francisco Museum of Art (now the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) designed by Barbara Stauffacher Solomon.
The collection also contains some materials produced outside of California such as theater programs by Czech designer Marek Majewski for the Teatr Dramatczny in Warsaw, Poland.
The collection does not contain works by Treib himself.

The collection is arranged alphabetically by designer or creator. Oversized items are housed in box 2.
