Abstract: The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Monitor Response Committee records, 1991-1997, is a collection of
the committee's meeting notes, correspondence, and related articles. The committee monitors radio, film, and television and
sends letters to media outlets praising or criticizing their portrayal of gays and lesbians. The collection was donated by
committee member Mike Roth.
The collection is arranged chronologically.
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Monitor Response Committee monitors the representation of gays and
lesbians in the media, specifically television, film, radio, and print. Committee members write letters directly to media
outlets regarding their representation of gays and lesbians, both real and fictional. The committee also contributes articles
to GLAAD's monthly newsletter.

The GLAAD Monitor Response Committee records mostly consist of the committee's meeting minutes, letters written by the committee,
and articles related to the portrayal of gays and lesbians in the media. The subjects of these articles include the committee's
reaction to specific media, media that is of interest to the committee, and the general experiences of gays and lesbians.
The collection also includes Rabbinic opinion papers discussing homosexuality and Judaism.
