    Historical Note

    In the late-1970s, gay rights pioneer Harry Hay and his partner John Burnside were among the co-founders of the Radical Faeries, a "New Age tribal spiritual movement" that organized gay consciousness-building retreats in scenic natural settings. A New York City group formed, circa 1979. Throughout the 1990s, the group distributed the newsletter, Faerie Gram.

The bulk of the collection is original art work and editorial content used for the group's fliers and Faerie Gram newsletter.
