Japanese-American Relations Committee of the American Friends Service Committee information bulletins
Historical note
The American Friends Service Committee, founded in 1917, began working actively with Japanese Americans during World War
II. The AFSC focused its efforts on Japanese resettlement and helping Japanese-Americans adjust to the relocations. Members
visited Japanese-Americans in their homes and later in the camps to provide moral support; they spoke publically about the
relocations; and they collected food for interned families. The Information Bulletin was published by the Japanese-American
Relocations Committee of the AFSC, which was based in Pasadena, and which supplied news of the committee's work to its members.

Manzanar Free Press
Historical note
The Manzanar Free Press was a typeset, printed newspaper published at the Manzanar relocation camp. Its publication spanned
Manzanar's time as both an assembly center and a War Relocation Authority Camp. Publication began on April 1, 1942 and ended
on October 19, 1945. Story coverage in the paper was typical of a small town newspaper, with stories on social events, religious
activities, classified ads, etc.
