Abstract: The Merwin Eugene "Gene" Soyster
Photograph Album was compiled and photographs likely taken by Mr. Soyster, coordinator of
the San Fernando Valley Campus of Los Angeles State College (and later San Fernando Valley
State College) Audio Visual Department. Soyster taught audio visual methods courses in the
credential program. The album was donated to Special Collections and Archives by his son
John in October 2018. The twenty-two black and white photographs with captions are
representative of the colleges' first two years. Gene Soyster passed away in
2011.
