Abstract: Nina Jo Smith is a Bay Area songwriter and guitarist. A student of martial arts, she also taught self defense and devoted
herself to non-violence work for 20 years. The collection includes newsletters from the National Women's Martial Arts Federation,
circa 1987-1992; and records documenting the Pacific Association of Women Martial Artists, including by-laws and articles
of incorporation, board materials, flyers, newsletters and photographs, circa 1990.

Scope and Content of Collection
Nina Jo Smith is a Bay Area songwriter and guitarist. A student of martial arts, she also taught self defense and devoted
herself to non-violence work for 20 years. The collection includes newsletters from the National Women's Martial Arts Federation,
circa 1987-1992; and records documenting the Pacific Association of Women Martial Artists, including by-laws and articles
of incorporation, board materials, flyers, newsletters and photographs, circa 1990. There is also a a flyer for a reading
at Modern Times bookstore, "Family Albums: A Reading about Our Peoples--Nina Jo and Johnny Poetry and Prose," undated. The
collection also includes a cassette recording of a panel entitled 'Homophobia in Women's Sports' presented at the 1991 national
convention of the National Association of Girls and Women in Sports of American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation
