Biographical / Historical

Bob Kelley founded Bobkat Productions in early 1989 with the intent of providing professional videography to a wide array of customers in the Northern California region, including Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), National Broadcasting Company (NBC), Dignity Health, Sutter Health, Proctor and Gamble, Snapple, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Associated Press. Prior to his career in video production, Kelley spent two years in the United States Coast Guard, three years as a purser on various cargo ships, and has been a small business owner in the food service industry. He is a 1968 graduate of California State University at Hayward and currently a Board Member of the Western States Trail Museum in Auburn, California.
Topics of particular focus include California State University, Sacramento's "Mosaics Project," an effort spearheaded by professor Crystal Olson and the California Arts Council to develop teacher leaders for local multicultural communities through arts education. Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson's "For Art's Sake" initiative is also addressed, primarily in the areas of marketing, infrastructure and partnering.

Scope and Contents

Collection contains 60 magnetic tapes. 33 are "large" DVCAM ¼ inch wide digital video cassettes and four are "small" DVCAM ¼ inch wide digital video cassettes; the remainder are Mini DV-style digital video cassettes. All 60 cassettes have been migrated into separate .mp4 and .avi files which are saved on a single Seagate 2TB hard drive. All units were numbered by the creator and remain set in original order.
