    Biography

    John Innes Mackintosh Stewart (1906-1994) was a Scottish writer and academic. He taught English at the University of Leeds; the University of Adelaide, South Australia; Queen's University, Belfast; and Oxford University. Stewart wrote both literary criticism and novels under his own name and mystery novels under the name Michael Innes.

    Scope and Contents

    Correspondence with J.I.M. Stewart, receipts for books, dust jackets, and manuscripts of novels and short stories. Manuscripts include "The Open House", "A Venation of Centaurs", "Cucumber Sandwiches", and "Doppelgänger".
