Abstract: L. Song Richardson is an American lawyer, scholar, and the second dean of the University of California, Irvine, School of Law. From 2017 to 2021 she was the Dean and Chancellor's Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine, School of Law. During her tenure she had joint appointments in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society and in the Department of Asian American Studies. At the time of her appointment, Richardson was the only woman of color to lead a top 30 law school. In July 2021 Richardson began a new tenure as President of Colorado College. She received her AB from Harvard College and her JD from Yale Law School. The collection comprises of records documenting her Deanship at the UCI School of Law as well as her teaching and research materials. These materials document Dean Richardson's decision making throughout her Deanship and include materials about the creation of a Dean's Circle, CEO Leadership Program with YPO, UCI in NYC, materials that document Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, the Dean's response to COVID-19, and the School's rankings. The collection also documents events about Artificial Intelligence (Artificial Intelligence & Law Colloquium, AI Institute for Law and Policy, UN AI for Good events), Symposia with Korea National Law School, and Shakespeare Trials. Materials also include Dean Richardson's awards, honors, talks, and a What Matters to Me and Why video. Formats include born-digital documents such as PDF emails, text documents, calendars, photographs, and videos.
