Biographical Note

George Dornberger (1870-1934) was born in Mayfield, Santa Clara, California, and was involved in prospecting in the Yukon Territory in Alaska in late 1898 and 1899. He eventually settled in Seattle, Washington.

Content Description

Materials include two of Dornberger's diaries recording his travels to the Alaska, one cabinet photograph, and ephemera related to mining such as articles of incorporation, mining company pamphlets, a copy of the Nome Gold Digger newspaper, hand-drawn maps, stock certificates, Wells Fargo bank receipts, mining claims, and Power of Attorney affidavits. Also included is a printout of genealogical information about Dornberger and a transcription of his diaries by his descendents Betty Dornberger Westby and Dian Dornberger Murrell.
