Scope and Contents
This collection comprises architectural drawings, plans, and blueprints for buildings designed or constructed in Northern
California and the Bay Area region, dating from 1862-1983, with the bulk of the materials dating from the first half of the
20th century. Residential, commercial, and civic buildings are represented, including the Montgomery Building (former home
to the San Francisco
Call), the Palace Hotel, (San Francisco), the Pacific Hebrew Orphan Asylum (San Francisco) and the Humboldt Bank Building (San
Francisco). Some of the architects and architectural firms represented include Francis Joseph McCarthy and Donald Joseph Forbes,
W.J. Cuthbertson, H.W. Cleaveland, and Alfred Henry Jacobs.

All related architectural drawings pertaining to the construction of a building are stored together; architectural drawings
of an architect or architectural firm are stored together.
