Biographical Note

Susan Sward is a freelance writer and reporter, having spent nearly thirty years as an investigative reporter with the San Francisco Chronicle. Her work primarily centered on San Francisco and California politics, the environment and law enforcement. Since leaving the Chronicle in 2009, Sward's work has appeared in the New York Times, Sacramento Bee, and Stanford Social Innovation Review.

Scope and Contents

Contains interviews with former mayors Elmer E. Robinson, George Christopher, and Joseph L. Alioto for Sward's San Francisco Chronicle profile, "When I was Mayor," published May 27, 1981; and with Erhard Seminar Training (est) founder, Werner Erhard, for Sward's Chronicle article, "Trouble for Werner Erhard," published Aug. 16, 1984.
The George Christopher interview was recorded over an earlier interview with entertainer Carol Doda. That snippet can be heard at the beginning of the second Christopher CD. Doda was interviewed for Sward's Chronicle article, "Getting Close to Carole Doda," published April 19, 1980.
Of note, Christopher discussed Edwin Atherton, the private investigator and former federal Bureau of Inspection agent, who investigated the San Francisco Police Department in the later 1930s.
