Description
Jackson Burton Wilcox (b. June 16, 1918 – d. November 14, 2013) was an American Baptist pastor, artist, writer, and editor with a ministry career spanning over six decades. He served in eleven churches, including St. Paul, MN; Aberdeen, WA; Chowchilla, CA; Santa Cruz, CA; Lindsay, CA; Hollywood, CA; Panorama City, CA; and Quartz Hill, CA. His ministry included illustrating published church newsletters and the underground newspaper Hollywood Free Paper for the Jesus People Movement with his distinctive cartoons and drawings. This collection provides a unique window into the American Baptist church during the mid-to-late 20th century as well as the Jesus People Movement heritage and its continued influence.
