Biography/Administrative History

Karen Lee Wald is a writer and freelance journalist from the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area in California, where she also worked as a bilingual teacher and college instructor. Since 1969 she has been writing about Cuba, where she has maintained temporary residence since 1982 as a foreign correspondent. Ms. Wald's path to Cuba began in the 1960s Civil Rights, student and anti-Vietnam War movements, and she continues to travel back and forth between her homes in both countries and to be involved in the struggles in each. She has helped break the information blockade against Cuba. Her work has been essential to responding to the disinformation campaigns against Cuba with factual information.

Video and sound recordings covering various topics related to Cuba. Materials range in date from the 1980s into the 2000s.
