Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky, February 12th, 1809. He became a lawyer in Illinois, and was a member of
the Illinois House of Representatives from 1834-1846, until he was elected into the United States House of Representatives
later that year. He married his wife Mary Todd Lincoln in 1842. Lincoln was elected president in 1860 (16th US President),
and led the United States through its Civil War, while preserving the Union and abolishing slavery. Additionally he strengthened
the federal government and modernized the economy. On April 14, 1865, Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
