Abstract: Ron Eber is a graduate of San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN), class of 1971. Mr. Eber served as President of CSUN's Mountaineering and Conservation Club and was instrumental in raising awareness about environmental issues on campus, throughout California, and beyond. He has been an active environmentalist as a member of the Sierra Club and as a Rural and Agricultural Land Specialist, Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development, a position he held for over 30 years. Mr. Eber also served on an advisory committee to the University Of Oregon Department of Special Collections regarding the establishment of an Oregon Conservation Collection, and has been a visiting lecturer at both the University of Oregon and Willamette University on topics such as land use, preservation and conservation history, and John Muir. The Ronald Eber Collection documents his role in the founding of CSUN's Mountaineering and Conservation Club in 1969, Environmental Awareness Week in conjunction with Earth Day 1 in April 1970, and the campaign to protect the campus' historic orange grove.
