Immediate Source of Acquisition
Gift of the estate of Eva Marjorie Beeson Lawyer, May 1983.
Belle Dora Stamback Beeson was born to a large family in Indiana in approximately 1865. In 1885 she married Charles Beeson.
In about 1900, Charles Beeson's health suffered, and the family moved to Pasadena, California. Their sons Dana and Eddie remained
in Pasadena, and daughter Eva married L. Elgin Lawyer and moved to Iowa.
The majority of the collection is made up correspondence among the Beeson, Stamback, and Lawyer family members from 1881 to
1954, including Belle Dora Stamback Beeson, her husband Charles, her sons Eddie and Dana, and her daughter Eva Beeson Lawyer.
The collection also includes envelopes, newspaper clippings, greeting cards, and programs.
The collection was cataloged by Harriet McLune in 1983. In 2020, Brooke M. Black created a finding aid.
The collection is arranged in the following series: Family letters; General correspondence; Envelopes; and Ephemera.
Former call number: mssBeeson correspondence.
