Records of the UC San Diego Office of the Vice Chancellor, Facilities and Design Construction which document the development
of the UC San Diego campus from its founding in 1960 though approx. 1999. The collection includes photographs, building plans,
and UC Regent meeting minutes and agenda items.
Background
The Office of the Vice Chancellor, Facilities Design and Construction is responsible for implementing the Capital Improvement
Program at UC San Diego. Responsibilities include project programming, schematic design, design development, construction
documents, contract documents, bidding and awards of contracts, inspection of construction-in-progress of buildings and utility
systems, and construction administration for all capital improvements. The department's support units include project management,
contract administration, fiscal management, construction services, health care design, and administrative services.
