Series 1) BIOGRAPHICAL MATERIALS: Includes materials about Goldberger's life documenting his time as President of Caltech, his years on the faculty of Princeton University, and an article entitled "A Life in Particle Physics," by theoretical physicist Sam Bard Treiman, who derived the Goldberger-Treiman relation with Goldberger. Series 5) NOTEBOOKS AND LECTURE NOTES: Includes Goldberger's early notebooks and notes (with mathematical equations) while he was a graduate student at the University of Chicago, lecture notes and talks on various topics he taught at Princeton University and UC San Diego, and subject files on energy, quantum mechanics, relativity and other areas of mathematical and particle physics. Also included are some documents and photographs relating to Goldberger's role in the acquisition of a $70 million dollar grant for the construction of the W.M. Keck Observatory.
