Abstract: Photographs, negatives, correspondence, and drawings, circa 1919-1990, from Norma Roos and Virginia Kaitchuck, who lived together
in Chicago, Illinois. The photographs document Roos and Kaitchuck's personal life in Chicago, Illinois; particularly, their
social and leisure activities, including all-women house parties, visits to bars, softball games, outings to the zoo, trips
to swim in a lake, and their daily life around the house.
Biographical / Historical
Norma L. Roos was born in Illinois in 1919, and she died in 1999. Virginia C. Kaitchuck was born in Illinois in 1919 and
died in 2001. The couple lived most of their lives together at their home in the East Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago,
Illinois.

Scope and Contents
The collection includes photographs, negatives, correspondence, drawings, circa 1919-1990, from lesbian couple Norma Roos
and Virginia Kaitchuck. The photographs document Roos and Kaitchuck's personal life in Chicago, Illinois; particularly, their
social and leisure activities, including all-women house parties, visits to bars, outings to the zoo, and trips to swim in
a lake. These photos also depict scenes from their daily life around the house and visits from their biological relatives.
This collection includes photographs from Roos' childhood and adolescence, as well as her participation in the National Girls
Baseball League during the 1940s.
