“Would You Be Caught Dead In That Outfit?” is a collaborative project by artists Rebeka Rodriguez and Julián Delgado Lopera that uses “photographs, journals and archival material” in order to explore how “TransLatinas reshape the raw material of daily life to produce new aesthetic forms.” The project’s first event was held in December 2018 at The Stud bar in San Francisco and included, in the words of Delgado Lopez, “a kiki panel, a runway, a photobooth and an installation of archival material from that time period.” The project’s second instantiation was exhibited at the Pacific Felt Factory Arts Complex (PFF) from September 22 to October 20, 2022. For the PFF event, Delgado Lopera hosted a writing workshop with five members of El/La Para Translatinas, an advocacy organization for trans, intersex, and gender diverse Latinx people in the San Francisco Bay Area. Participants created journals featuring prose reflections and watercolor and pencil images. Rodriguez photographed three of the participants in their homes. This collection includes PFF writing workshop journals from Alessandra Barahona, Erika Rosales, Juan Alberto, and Sthefany Galante; and five, 12” x 18” giclée printed photographic portraits of Sthefany Galante (two prints), Alessandra Barahona (two prints), and Juan Alberto Camacho.

Copyright to materials created by Julián Delgado Lopera, Alessandra Barahona, Erika Rosales, Juan Alberto, and Sthefany Galante has been transferred to the GLBT Historical Society. Copyright to the photographic prints remains with Rebeka Rodriguez. Upon Rodriguez's death, copyright will transfer to the GLBT Historical Society. All requests for reproductions and/or permission to publish or quote from material must be submitted in writing to the GLBT Historical Society Archivist. Transmission or reproduction of materials protected by copyright beyond that allowed by fair use requires the written permission of the copyright owners. Responsibility for any use rests exclusively with the user.
