Leadership North County is a comprehensive leadership program that fosters the growth of community leaders who will serve
as catalysts in building a stronger region. Outstanding communities are characterized by exceptional leaders who demonstrate
a thorough knowledge of the region in which they live and have clear visions for the future. Leadership North County aims

North County is currently helmed by Scott Gross, the Associate Vice President, Industry Partnerships & Services of Planning
and Academic Resources at California State University San Marcos.
Previous to 2001, Leadership North County was Leadership 2000. Leadership 2000 was designed in 1986 by Dr. Fran Aleshire,
who partnered with Major General Marc Moore, USMC (Ret.) to create a strong network of community leaders who would cointinually
imporvoe the region in which they live and work. Leadership 2000 was designed to highligh existing infrastructure and address
current issues facing the North County San Diego. In 2001, Leadership 2000 was entrusted to the California State University
San Marcos, where it currently operates, and changed its name to Leadership North County.
