Biography/Administrative History

After a childhood in Butte, Montana, C. Easton Rothwell attended Reed College in Oregon from 1920-1924. During his career, he worked for the U. S. State Department from 1941-1946; he helped found the United Nations; he was affiliated with the Hoover Institute and Library at Stanford University from 1947-1959, including serving as its director; and he was the president of Mills College from 1959-1967. Scope and Content of Collection

This collection consists of primarily correspondence and speeches from time of Rothwell’s Mills College presidency; press clippings and press releases; records (related to travel, College Affairs Assembly, Milhaud Festival, Women’s College Board, and more); personal papers of Easton and Virginia Rothwell, and some UN materials.
