The San Francisco Artists' Union was established in 1868 to purchase and distribute works
of art to subscribers. The Union was founded by eighteen California artists, including
Samuel Marsden Brookes (manager), Charles Nahl, and William Keith.
Materials in this collection, which were created in 1868, are in the public domain in the
