•The California & Oregon Railroad was operated by the Central Pacific and was consolidated with it on August 22, 1870. On
that date it owned a total of 77.53 miles of track: 23.90 acquired with the Yuba Rail Road, 10.30 of the former California
Central, plus 43.33 miles between Marysville and Chico constructed between May and July of 1870. [Guy Dunscomb, A CENTURY
