Scope and Content of Collection
The notebook of a stationary steam engineer who reported on the conditions of power boilers in the Ohio, Illinois, and Pennsylvania
area of the United States includes: the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) boiler code for safety valves, specifications
for proposed new boilers at Carnegie Steel Co.’s Edgar Thompson Works, reports on visits to power plants, and steam consumption
tests. Visits were made to: American Sheet & Tin Plate Co., Brier Hill Steel Co., the Commonwealth Edison Co., the Corrigan-McKinney
Steel Co., the Illinois Steel Co., McKeesport Tin Plate Co., Midvale Steel & Ordnance Co., and Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co.
