Description
The Friends of the Schindler House lecture series collection span .25 linear feet and dates from 1979. The collection is composed of two recorded lectures organized by the Friends of the Schindler House and hosted at the University of Southern California. Lectures include: “Schindler’s Architecture – Thick and Thin” by Rayner Banham on May 24, 1979 and “The 40s (on R. M. Schindler)” by Esther McCoy on May 31, 1979.
Background
Friends of the Schindler House (FOSH), is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1976 by Schindler’s former wife Pauline. FOSH acquired the Schindler house in 1980 with funding from the California Office of Historic Preservation. The nonprofit’s mission is to preserve and maintain Schindler’s Kings Road house in West Hollywood, California.
