Elizabeth Watkins was the Dean of the Graduate Division, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and Professor of History of Health
Sciences at UCSF. This collection documents Watkins's research on hormone replacement therapy for her publication, "The Estrogen
Elixir: A History of Hormone Replacement Therapy in America, 1986-2003." The records include survey responses, organized by
responders' age, from the Saturday Evening Post's 1986 "Menopausal and Postmenopausal Women's Survey."

Availability
The survey responses contain health information, which is restricted due to HIPAA. The UCSF Archives and Special Collections
policy places access restrictions on material with privacy issues for a specific time period from the date of creation. Access
to records that contain personal and confidential information about an individual or individuals is restricted for 75 years
from date of creation or until the death of the individual mentioned in the records, whichever is longer. This collection
will be reviewed for sensitive content upon request. Contact the UCSF Archivist for information on access to restricted files.
