Grand Coulee Dam Washington Stretching 4,173 from bank to bank the Grand Coulee blocks the mighty Columbia River 95 miles west of Spokane, Washington. Powerhouses on both sides of the 15-acre spillway are designed to serve the world's largest hydroelectric generators. Ultimate installed capacity of the dam will be 1, 974,000 kilowatts.
