Description:
Future Mothers of America float in the Fourth of July parade. Caption by Dolores Gomez: ""Taken on Old County Rd (looks
as if it is the site NOW [1998] of the [Brisbane] Village, as the site where the Village is now was once a pond. Filled in
around the early 1950s) The float Future Mothers of America ( I was told by one of the women who was on the float) was a
'sewing' club. Actually in the early 30s there was nothing for the young people. So they banded together and had a 'sewing'
club. It was a chance for socializing, mostly chatting with a bit of sewing thrown in! The two blonde girls are Shirley
and Barbara Schwenderlauf, second from the left is Yvonne Kinney, girl holding flame is Eva Woods, next girl to Eva's right
is Lupe Gomez, girl on the end of the float is Refuga Gomez.""
