Content/DescriptionBust portrait of man (Robins, George W., 1821-1908). Robins, a California pioneer, left New York in March 1849 aboard the bark Clarissa, sailed around Cape Horn and arrived in San Francisco in October of that year. Robins was referred to as a capitalist and a letter apparently written by him to Benjamin S. Hill in 1850 discusses the state of money market in San Francisco at the time.
