Description:
The Libby School was dedicated on August 26, 1890 and was located on land along North River Road until it was moved to San
Luis Rey Heritage Park in 1974. The school was built by Benjamin Libby and his wife and attended by their children and other
San Luis Rey area children until the school became part of Oceanside in 1946 and the students transferred to Oceanside schools.
The school was then used for a polling place until its move to the Heritage Park. There is also another Libby Elementary
school in Oceanside which is still in use today.
