The arrest of Father Boylan

Description:
Press release regarding the arrest of Father Richard Boylan for voter fraud. Boylan, a former Catholic priest and then graduate
student in sociology at UC, managed much of the day to day work at the Free Church in 1970 and 1971. He was arrested twice.
The church believed these acts were part of a campaign against the Free Church and perceived radicals. The charges were later
dropped. One of the issues on the ballot was for community control of the police. Policemen threatened to leave the force
if the act was passed. The initiative was defeated.
