letterhead Honey Grove, Texas Nov. 1st 1890. Mr. John Muir, Martinez, Cal. My Dear Sir:- Your telegram of yesterday
announcing the sudden death of Uncle was handed me this morning - not knowing that Uncle was sick, it was indeed sudden, as
well as sad news to us all. I have apprised all the connection, as well as Cousin Alice and Aunt at Paris, of the sad news,
and all seem overwhelmed with sorrow, for we all had the same love for Uncle, as for Auntie. I have telegraphed you this morning,
in answer to your telegram, and have also written Auntie. Assuring you of my heartfeld sympathy. Yours Truly? S. Irwin
