Picnic Day, Cynthia Leivers, student hostess for a recent Picnic Day, is shown with one of the fraternity floats that paraded during that spring event on the University of California campus at Davis. Picnic Day annually draws as many as 20,000 persons to the campus. Visitors watch a parade, attend an all-day high school track meet with more than 1,000 contestants, a horse show, an aquacade, and many traditional picnic events. At noon, picnickers gather by thousands on the campus Quad and are entertained by a band concert. Cindy Leivers was also Homecoming Queen the preceding fall.
