Description:
Handwritten letter fom Haruko Sumi to [Afton] Nance, 1943 Nov 10. T-46-A, P.O. Bx 788 Crystal City, Texas Nov. 10, 1943 Dear Mrs. Nance, It was nice hearing from
your end am glad to hear that you are now working with the Red Cross. As you may see by address I have now joined my husband
here in Texas. It is very nice here and we are all happy. It has been a long time since the last time I saw you and things
must be different in California. I would like to thank you for all the kindness you have Shown me and my children while being
in Santa Anita. Your kindness will never be forgotten. A little about this camp – we who are here are all families of internees.
This camp is very nice compared to the previous ones. We are able to cook our own food and we get enough of everything.
It’s like home only not being in California gives us a lonely feeling. It was rather hot but now the weather seems to
have changed to more or less what you would call cold. Well this is very brief but just to let you know we think of you
often. And again thanks for everything – Most sincerely Mrs. Haruko Sumi
