Scope and Content Note

This series contains correspondence, minutes of meetings, bylaws, maps, notes, reviews, conference papers, and annotated reprints and manuscripts by other scholars.

Arrangement

The papers are divided into three subseries: Lecture/Research Notes; Organizations; and Writings by Other Scholars. In Subseries 1, lecture notes are arranged by course number. (Course notes on Culture Growth and Primitive Art found their way into publication and are filed in Series 2.) Research notes are filed alphabetically by subject. Subseries 2, Organizations, is arranged alphabetically by the name of the organization. Subseries 3, Writings by Other Scholars, contains annotated typescripts and publications, and is arranged alphabetically by author. Articles with unknown authors or titles follow. Some of these writings were collected by Kroeber for research purposes, while others were passed on to him for his comments.
