Abstract:

Photograph album of snapshots documenting an unidentified woman's stay at the Weimar Joint Sanatorium for tuberculosis, likely in the late 1920s or early 1930s. Photographs depict her, some of her fellow patients (only identified by first name) and various visitors. Also depicted are a few staff members, the grounds of the sanatorium, interior scenes of buildings, and the surrounding countryside. Also includes a stationery envelope printed with name of the sanatorium and bearing hand-written name: "Farley."

Weimar Joint Sanatorium: established for the treatment of indigent tuberculosis patients; located in Weimar, south of Colfax in Placer County; opened in 1919, closed approximately 1979. An adjoining Weimar Cemetery was the subject of 2012 Weimar Project, a research effort aimed at determining the identities of many who were buried there.
