Abstract:

Photographs show many views of wilderness areas and recreation areas in California, such as the Russian River, Sherwood, Harris Station, the Eel River, Hoopa Valley, Monterey, Mt. Shasta area, and unidentified forests (including logs and logging). A number of forest pictures show specific trees identified by Latin name. Negatives of specific plants are also included. Views of plants related to Blasdale's study of primroses are present. Photos also show outings, cabins, outdoor recreation, etc. Many photographs show Indians (especially at Hoopa Valley) including a home, sweat lodge, and other scenes. Also includes photos of a Chinese fishing village near Monterey, and scenes at the Molera Ranch (near Monterey).
