Primarily letters writtten to Brewer from men who had been associated with him on the California Geological Survey, including
James G. Cooper, James T. Gardiner, Josiah Whitney, Vitus Wackenreuder, R.D. Cotter (regarding mining experiences in Montana),
and others; and letters from Samuel P. Langley, Arthur B. Stout, Watson A. Goodyear, and Gideon E. Moore (regarding petroleum
deposits in California and his assay work for Gould and Curry Mines).
Also included: drafts of two letters by Brewer regarding the naming of Mt. Whitney; and, photocopies of miscellaneous documents
regarding the California Geological Survey.
