Abstract:

From dealer description: Collection of 16 glass negatives comprising eight plates taken onboard Terra Nova and seven negatives of other vessels (possibly seen during the outward voyage). Of the plates taken onboard Terra Nova, the subjects include a study of Captain Scott standing on the bridge deck, two portrait studies of crew wearing Terra Nova name bands, three negatives of the dogs at exercise mid-deck, two similar studies of three crew grouped around a kitten sitting in the horn of the ship phonograph and one shot of a tent camp in the Antarctic.

The British Antarctic Expedition 1910-1912 was an attempt to reach the South Pole. Robert Scott and his team traveled on the ship Terra Nova and continued on to the South Pole with sledges. A Norwegian team reached the pole before them. Scott and his team died on the return journey.
