Note:

Robert Edgar Sanderson, known as "Ed" to family and friends, was born in Stockton on April 2, 1945. After graduation from Stockton High School he attended Stanford University, where his study was interrupted by service in the United States Navy during World War II. Sanderson attained the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines, but in the latter location he contacted polio and was sent back to the United States. After successful treatment he resumed his studies, graduated from Stanford Law School in 1952, and became an attorney for the Franchise Tax Board in San Francisco. A member of numerous boards, organizations, and associations, Sanderson returned to Stockton after retirement and died there on October 7, 2004.
