Caroline Wenzel (1886-1959) was Supervising Librarian of the California State Library's California History Section from 1933
to 1952, did much to make the section's materials more accessible to the public, and herself became an expert on California
History.
The California Pony Express Centennial Organization was formed in 1958 to plan events and activities for the 1960 Pony Express
centennial. Subsequent activities included reenactments of the Pony Express rides, and the crowning of a Pony Express Queen.
