Ledger book containing professional photographs that document the modernization of Mexico City during the early years of the "Mexican Miracle" ("Milagro mexicano") and coinciding with the presidencies of Miguel Alemán Valdés and Adolfo Ruiz Cortines, who are both depicted at public events in some scenes. Most views document the progress of various civic infrastructure and public works projects and other aspects of urban development. Numerous images document the expansion of major thoroughfares, the creation of streets and new neighborhoods, and associated construction of water and power lines. Other general topics include parks and other public spaces; trains, buses and other aspects of public transportation; police officers and firefighters; public monuments, plaques, etc.; new office and residential buildings; schools; colonial and other historic structures; and public markets. Some views show current living conditions for poorer residents. Many laborers are depicted, as are politicians and everyday citizens of Mexico City, and some public events (festivals, ceremonies featuring politicians, demonstrations, etc.).
