Abstract:

Color lithographic prints promoting leisure, recreation and tourism in California. Subjects of scenes depicted include golfing, beach-going, San Francisco's Chinatown, ferryboats at a crowded dock, a miner and priest at a California Mission, boating (perhaps on Lake Tahoe) and a train traveling in a canyon. Fashions depicted in scenes are from the 1920s and/or 1930s.

Michel Kady: Hungarian-American artist born November 1, 1901 in San Francisco, where he was based as an artist at least through the 1940s; later moved to Foster City; known for plein-air watercolors and oil paintings, as well as illustrations of travel publications, posters and other promotional materials; clients included Southern Pacific, Wells Fargo, and other transportation companies and municipal agencies; died in San Mateo July 21, 1977.
