Abstract:

Contains 4 account ledgers, 1860-1884, for Wyrouck's general store in Virginia City, Montana Territory, listing names of numerous individuals and local businesses, including 2 bakeries, a meat market, miner's supply store, and a blacksmith. The first ledger also includes rental records for a log cabin, hay sales, and stud records for mares bred; the last lists livestock and store sales, particularly to Jones & Philley Co.
The commission sales book, 1865-1868, records goods received and for sale on commission, including various grocery, hardware, and appliances, such as ovens, stationary, paints, oils, glass, and wallpaper, while the ranch book, 1880-1886, records cattle and horses, and includes an assessors list. Three items of printed emphemera are: a receipt for subscription to the Montanian, a campaign flyer concerning the Standard Oil Amalgamated Copper Co., and "The believers' bank note," a piece of religious advertising.
