Abstract:

Includes town views of Dawson (Yukon) and Atlin (B.C.), Surprise Lake, and Boulder Creek. Landscapes, dog sleds, miners, group portraits, hydraulic mining operations, flumes, and sluices are among the images. The development of the hydraulic mining operation is particularly well documented.

Prevost, pictured in several photographs within this album, is identified as the accountant of the Société minière de la Colombie Britannique, a French company that registered to do business in British Columbia in 1901. The agent of the company was Emile Janne de Lamare. Their operations appear to have been centered at Boulder Creek, which flows into Surprise Lake, east of Atlin, B.C.
